Youth Mental Health First Aid – 2 Day Course

This 14 hour Youth Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults how to assist            adolescents who are in crisis or developing a mental illness. Like physical first aid, mental health first aid is given until the person receives professional help or until the crisis resolves.

Participants will learn about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.  Topics covered include: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, psychosis, substance use problems, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, self harm, panic attacks, traumatic events, aggression and more!

The qualification is a valuable asset for parents, teachers, coaches, volunteers, family members, employers, community workers and community members. Many professions recognise the course for professional development hours
