Standard Mental Health First Aid – 2 Day Course

Mental health first aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, or who is in a mental health crisis (e.g., the person is suicidal or has had a traumatic experience). Like physical first aid, mental health first aid is given   until the person receives professional help or until the crisis resolves.

The course covers the signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychotic illnesses and drug/alcohol misuse, where and how to get effective help, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

The qualification is a valuable asset to volunteers, job seekers, to family members of mental health consumers, employers, community workers and community members. Many professions recognise the course for professional development hours.
